Memorising the Qur’an is not the end of the journey; it is the beginning of another one.

Many people assume that once the Qur’an has been completely memorised, the hardest part is over. But anyone who has gone through the journey knows that there is another stage that demands just as much patience, if not more: Marhalat al-Tajmīʿ (مرحلة التجميع), the stage of consolidation.

This is the stage where you begin bringing your memorised portions together through consistent revision until they become firmly connected and readily accessible in your mind.

And this is where many people become discouraged.

You revise today, tomorrow, and the day after, yet you still make mistakes. You repeat a page several times and somehow find yourself struggling with it again. You begin to wonder whether all the revision is actually making a difference.

Please, persevere.

Do not mistake slow progress for no progress. Every repetition is doing something. Every time you correct a mistake, return to a difficult passage, or struggle through a revision session, you are strengthening your connection with the Qur’an, even when the results are not immediately visible.

Do not rush this stage. Do not compare your progress with someone else’s. Most importantly, do not abandon your revision simply because you are not seeing quick results.

Marhalat al-Tajmīʿ requires patience, consistency, and a long breath.

Memorising the Qur’an is a tremendous achievement, but preserving it is a lifelong responsibility. The goal is not merely to be able to say, “I have memorised the Qur’an,” but to keep the Qur’an alive in your heart and on your tongue.

So, to everyone currently struggling through revision: keep going.

The pages you are struggling to consolidate today may, by Allah’s permission, become among the strongest portions of your memorisation tomorrow.

May Allah make the Qur’an firm in our hearts, grant us the patience to continually revise it, and make it a source of guidance, blessing, and intercession for us in this life and the Hereafter. Āmīn.
