The Qur’an is more than a book to be recited—it is a guide for every Muslim. This article explores how learning, understanding, and living by the Qur’an can transform our character and strengthen our relationship with Allah.
The Qur'an: A Guide for Every MuslimThe Qur'an is one of the greatest gifts Allah has given us. It is not only a book we recite; it is a guide that teaches us how to live, how to treat others, and how to remain close to Allah.
Allah says in the Qur'an:
“Indeed, this Qur'an guides to what is most upright.”
(Qur'an 17:9)
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also said:
“The best of you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari)
This teaches us that learning the Qur'an and helping others learn it is a great responsibility and a noble act of worship.
However, learning the Qur'an should not stop at memorising its words. We should also try to understand its message and put its teachings into practice. A person who carries the Qur'an should allow its teachings to improve his character, patience, honesty, kindness, and relationship with others.
The scholars have always reminded us that the real benefit of knowledge appears when it is put into practice. Therefore, our goal should not simply be to finish a Qur'an course, but to become better Muslims through what we learn.
Even if we learn only a small amount each day, consistency can lead to great progress. A few verses learned, understood, and practised every day can have a lasting impact on our lives.
May Allah make the Qur'an the light of our hearts, guide us through it, and make us among those who learn it, live by it, and teach it to others. Ameen.
